
A Vancouver native with a passion for the arts, Laurie McLay has been working in the Film and Television industry since 1988 on a multitude of projects including Feature Films, TV Series, Movies of the Week, Animation, Music Videos and Commercials for the likes of HBO, Showtime, Viacom and MTV.
In 1998, Laurie formed her own production company, SISTAR FILMS, allowing her to expand creatively and originate her own projects while continuing to work as a freelance producer for local and foreign companies in London, New York and Los Angeles.
Her first project in 2002 with Vancouver based Bear Studios led to a succession of producing projects and a relationship that culminated in her taking the helm as Executive Producer, growing the Director roster and overseeing the Film and Television department. “THE PENCIL CASE”, a short film produced by Bear Studios and SISTAR FILMS for director Claudia Molina screened at the Whistler Film Festival in 2004.
New York beckoned in 2005 and Laurie moved to Manhattan for a year to produce “LOCAL FLAVOR WITH JOAN CUSACK” for the Discovery Travel Channel which took her on an amazing shooting spree in Spain, Portugal and France.
In 2007/2008, SISTAR FILMS acquired a slate of Feature Films including “THE PRAYING MANTIS” which is in development with the participation of Telefilm Canada.
A successful Producer and Executive Producer, Laurie is currently located in Vancouver where she is writing and developing Feature Films and Executive Producing multiple projects including TV Series and Commercials.
